About Spam and this blog

I receive many spam emails. There are many types of spam e-mails:
  • Phishing, obtain personal details for misuse
    This include the following techniques:
    • Regarding money transfer
    • Lottery winning
  • Product advertisement
  • Website advertisement to increase website traffic, and ultimately to gain ad-click revenue
  • Spread malicious links or virus program
There could be more types of spam too. In addition to e-mail, the spams may also be in form of a mobile short message using SMS, a mobile multimedia message using MMS, an instant message (IM) in your chat messenger, a post/comment on a newsgroup/forum/blog/guestbook/any website or a phone call.

I will post here about phishing e-mails. Most e-mails asks about help regarding transferring money and offers me a part of the total money. Some are also about winning a big lottery. These types of e-mails asks the receiver's full name, residential address, gender, phone number, e-mail address and sometimes photo and some other personal details too.

If a user responds to these type of e-mail, it may end in loosing money. These emails are totally fake and it is actually a trap to take away money from us. This blog is about the same phishing, money-trap e-mails.

I will highlight some important parts of the received e-mail as following:
From: user @ domain.tld
Reply-To: user @ domain.tld
Subject: subject of the e-mail

e-mail body. the subject and other important text in the message's body

my notes/observation regarding the e-mail
